* Figures may change based on findings from ongoing local epidemiological investigation efforts.

As of 9 May, out of 18 confirmed cases, 1 was imported case from Japan.

During the contact investigation related to Itaewon clubs in Seoul, 8 club-related cases (including 1 soldier), 4 community infected cases(2 family members, 2 acquaintances) are additionally confirmed. In total, 27 cases* are newly confirmed. Additional contact investigation and epidemiological investigation on the source of infection are underway.

    * Seoul 13, Gyeonggi 7, Incheon 5, Chung-buk 1, Busan 1 / Index patientcoworker 2, Itaewon clubs related 21, community 4 (The figures on Tables 1 and 3 are based on cases reported to KCDC before 0:00 of 9 May and may differ from above.)

KCDC requested that anyone who visited clubs located in Itaewon from 22:00 29 April to early morning of 6 May to;

   - (1) Stay home,

   - (2) Contact a local public health center or dial 1339 (KCDC call center) and report your history of visit to venues in Itaewon.

KCDC also stated that if people who visited any nightlife venues (such as clubs and bars) in Itaewon is showing fever or respiratory symptoms, they should contact a local public health center or dial 1339 and follow their instructions to get tested. KCDC also requested screening stations to actively test for the cases.

As of 20:00 8 May the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters issued an executive order for a month (20:00 Friday 8 May ~ Sunday 7 June 2020) for nightlife venues such as clubs. The executive order recommends clubs and other nightlife venues to refrain from operating, and orders them to comply with quarantine regulations when they inevitably do open.

- Preventive regulations such as wearing a facemask, maintaining a distance of at least 1 to 2 meters between users, checking for fever and respiratory symptoms upon entrance, keeping a record of users, and disinfection and ventilation of facilities at least twice a day should be observed.

- The head of a local government may fine (under 3 million won) a facility that operates without complying to the preventive regulations pursuant to Article 80 (7) of the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases, and can see seek compensation in the event of a new case being confirmed, and issue an order to ban on gatherings.

As community infected cases are increasing, KCDC asked everyone to be especially cautious over the weekend and follow “5 Basic Infection Prevention Rules for Everyone”:

 (1) Stay home for 3-4 days if you get sick.

 (2) Keep a distance of two arms’ length between you and others.

 (3) Wash your hands for 30 seconds. Cough/sneeze into your sleeve.

 (4) Ventilate your space at least twice a day and disinfect regularly.

 (5) Keep in touch with family and friends while maintaining physical distancing.

  - KCDC recommends people to participate in religious functions via non-face-to-face, non-contact methods such as online worship/meetings. Religious facilities that host on-site events must check people for fever, keep the distance between people, require everyone to wear facemasks, and refrain from providing group lunch and activities that may cause respiratory droplets to travel such as choir, shouting, or chanting.

  - KCDC asked people not go to work and stay home for 3~4 days when you have fever or respiratory symptoms. When the fever(more than 38 degrees) continues and symptoms get worse, reach call center (1339 or regional code +120) or your local health centers and get treated/tested. Also, KCDC requested medical institutions to actively test for COVID-19 when patients show suspected symptoms.

  - KCDC urged people to visit a screening center to get tested especially if two or more persons within a household or a travel group develops COVID-19 suspected symptoms.
