The Division
of Metabolic Diseases aims at obtaining
knowledge of the biomedical and physiological
mechanism of pathogenesis for metabolic
diseases such as diabetes, obesity and
metabolic syndromes.
To achieve these objectives, we perform
studies on the identification and transcriptional
regulation of diabetes/obesity-related
genes, molecular |

mechanisms involved in the development
of diabetes by mitochondrial dysfunction and
ER (endoplasmic recticulum) stress, and the
apoptosis of pancreatic ет-cells induced by
chronic high glucose.
We also explore mechanisms correlated with
causes of insulin resistance using insulin
resistant animals established by high fat
diet or ovarietomy. By these studies, we can
provide the early diagnostic tools and the
methods to prevent and treat the metabolic
diseases.
Finally, we provide clinical research findings
from children and adolescents obesity cohort
study. |
