The division
studies diagnosis and analysis of virulence
factors for the toxin-producing bacteria,
such as Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium
botulinum, etc. The division performs
research on the development of candidates
for products such as diagnosis, therapeutics,
and vaccine, and the biological role
of bacterial toxins, and regulation
of the virulence genes.
This division produce
laboratory guidelines and information related
to bioterrorism issue and functions as a collection
center for pathogenic microorganism and biomarkers
aganist infectious diseases.
Major Functions
1. Confirmatory diagnosis
and researches for toxin producing bacteria
, Bacillus anthracis
, Clostridium tetani
, Clostridium botulinum
, Other toxin-producing bacteria
2. Laboratory surveillance
and monitoring
, Screening of B. anthracis in soil
, Monitoring of C. botulinum in environments
, Public health lab-network construct
against bioterrorism agencies
3. Research

using recombinant protective antigen
, The development of early diagnosis
for pathogens related to bioterrorism
issue
, The establishment of National Standard
Laboratory for high risk pathogens
