vaccines and diagnostic reagents and the molecular
biological characterization. The division
contributes to establish preventive measures
against epidemics of respiratory viral diseases
by interpreting the research data and information
gathered through the nationwide surveillance
of respiratory viral diseases. As a National
Influenza Center designated by World Health
Organization, it has participated in the Global
Influenza Surveillance by reporting influenza
activity in Korea and by characterizing influenza
virus isolates. The division also makes every
effort to achieve the global elimination of
measles by collaborating with other countries.
