* KCDC/ KCDC Greetings

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(KCDC), expanding National Institute of Health, was established in January, 2004 and was restructured into "Center and Team" system in November 2005; it's aim is to protect the public from various diseases and to foster a safe and healthful environment.
To this end, we conduct research to identify etiology of disease and to find effective control, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Our primary goal for the 21st century is to confront emerging and reemerging diseases with a more advanced and specialized surveillance system, to protect the health of all Koreans and alleviate disease burden.
To achieve our goal, we will build close partnership with other governmental agencies, international organizations, research institutes, private health corporations and the academia.
At KCDC, we pledge to do our best to improve the quality of life and health of all Korean population.
